Profile of Dr Peter C. Idabor

.........Until current appointment as Director General of NOSDRA, Dr Peter C. Idabor was with the Niger Delta Development Commission Port Harcourt (NDDC) as Head, Pollution Control/Conservation/GIS Laboratory where he among other things supervised all Directorate staff. Also inspection/ report production on some contaminated sites, evaluating Consultants, supervision and review of interim/ progress reports on projects that were ongoing. The job also involved supervision of EIA studies while liaising with FMENV.  Sir Peter C. Idabor was the Head of NDDC Geographic Information Systems Laboratory (GIS) in this capacity.
He was a Member Regional Master Plan, Implementation Guidelines Committee. He was  involved in the development of formats for NDRMP Sector Reports.
In his extensive academic background, Sir Peter Idabor was already unwittingly preparing for the NOSDRA assignment with numerous industry specialty courses. He studied the Management of Oil Pipeline Systems under the auspices of the government of Norway International Program & Petroleum Management and Administration (PETRAD). Directorate of Petroleum Resources(DPR); Corr Ocean ASA DET NORSKE VERITAS (DNV) Institute of Energy Technology (IFE) and Pipe Care AS/STATOIL.  He  further studied Risk Based Management  of Contamination (Oil Spill/ Pollutants), a comprehensive programme  organized by SHELL Global Solutions.
With an MSc. degree in Hydrobiology & Fisheries (June 1986) from the University of Port Harcourt, Bsc. Hons Zoology (Second Class Upper Div.) from the University of Jos; he taught NCE and Degree Levels in Environmental Physiology, Genetics, taxonomy,Toxicology , Animal physiology, Taxonomy and Embryology for 10 years, in the position supervising final year degree projects over a 9 year span at the Rivers State College of Education, Port Harcourt. He has organized nationwide ecological/ environmental  fieldwork excursions.  
In the past he has served as  a Consultant, for the Post Impact Assessment of MOBIL Oil Spill in Lagos, Bayelsa, Ondo, Rivers  and Delta States. Versed through extensive retinue of training programmes both in Nigeria and overseas covering  the gamut of technical and administrative/ leadership specialties, some of the long list of which include:  Managers’ Workshop in Geographic Information Systems, Maryland, USA, Training Course in GIS Principles & Applications, Conducted at Earth Satellite Corporation (Earth SAT)Rockville, MD, USA. SPDC Stake Holders Workshop (1998); Advanced Public Affairs Mgt Course. Advanced Proficiency Management Course; Comprehensive Security and Proficiency Training  Program   and the Oracle DBA Course /SQL  (NIIT Port Harcourt)  Organized by Delta Systematics  Ltd.
Sir Peter Idabor’s Secondary and Higher School education were at Saint Anthony’s College Ubulu-uku and  Ibadan Grammar School , Molete, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Sir Peter Idabor supports and sponsors many programs (poverty, etc) and individuals at local and church community level and beyond. After losing a very dear son in Sosoliso air crash tragedy, Sir Idabor has been hard at work developing a non-profit (NGO) school  program in memorial of late young Augustus Nnamdi Idabor  for the disadvantaged in the Niger Delta; an ongoing commitment which he hopes to complete.
Through his work life, Sir Idabor has endeavoured to maintain a healthy slew of Professional body Memberships and personal/ business network relationships, some of the list include a membership  in the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES); Nigerian Conservation Foundation; he is registered in the United States as an Environmental Specialist and has been a Member of the  International Association of Impact Assessors (IAIA)  and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
He is happily married to his beautiful wife Florence and the marriage is blessed with seven children.
